Teaching Philosophy

My primary goal as a teacher of philosophy is to help students to understand, reconstruct, and critically evaluate arguments.  In my experience, the best way for me to do this is by giving students frequent practice doing low-stakes exercises to reconstruct and evaluate the arguments in a given text.  These skills are valuable not only in the philosophy classroom, but also in civic life more generally.
